Sim Goes Green Spurns Black and Orange

Rivals.com is reporting Garrett Sim, from Sunset high school in Portland has committed to the University of Oregon and head coach Ernie Kent.

Sim, 6'1 165 pounds, was the Co-Player of the Year for the 6A level in Oregon alongside another Oregon recruit in Brad Tinsley from Oregon, City.

Sim chose Oregon over offers from Cal, San Diego State, Fresno State, Portland, Santa Clara, and Boise State.

With his family being diehard Oregon State Beaver fans as his dad played multiple sports at OSU, Mom attended there, and his Brother is a current Quarterback for the football team, Sim's commitment might be a surprise for some but not for Sim himself.

Sim cited the fact he grew up and Oregon Duck fan as he watched Luke Jackson and Luke Ridnour star at Oregon as a child and wants to have the same impact as the Lukes did at Oregon.
With Sim on board Ernie Kent has landed the quality point guard the Oregon program needed late last year.

With Sim coming to Oregon the starting point guard position will be a key battle between Juniors Tajuan Porter, Ben Voogd, Sophomore Kamyron Brown, and Sim.

All four options will bring something different to the table.

Porter is the attack scoring point guard that needs to have another distributor on the floor for him to play better.

Voogd is the steady point guard that is gaining praise from the coaching staff as a smart player who wont make mistakes but wont take over any games.

Brown is the best play maker on the team but struggles with playing under control and lacks a consistent outside jump shot. Brown is also the best defender out of the group.

Sim comes in as a scorer when needed but also a player that can run the offense perfectly and set the rest of his teammates open while being very athletic.
