Recruiting Map Update

The Duck Coaching staff has been very busy this week with trips across the country to see some of the nation's best athletes and for a few lucky keys give personal offers.

The Duck's staff offered an unofficial seven new scholarships since May 9th. The staff once again appears to be going nationwide when it comes to recruiting as players from South Carolina, Connecticut, and Georgia have been offered. Thats just a few of the states where these kids are hailing from.

The new offers have gone out to:

1. Jordan Reed, a 6'3 225 pound 4* Dual-Threat Quarterback out of New London High school in Connecticut. Reed posted 1700 yards passing, 28 touchdowns, 2 interceptions, and a passing percentage of 60%.

2. Dasarte Yarnway, a 6'0 215 pound 3* Running Back that is blessed with a similar running style as current Duck LeGarrette Blount has. Yarnway has stated the Ducks are a leading school for his services and that the coaches view him as another Blount type back in the future. Yarnway ran for 1300 yards, 16 touchdowns rushing, and an average of 8.5 yards a carry. He also caught one touchdown pass.

3. Alson Jeffrey, 6'3 217 pound 4* Wide Receiver that boats a 4.55 forty hails from Saint Matthews, SC and was recently visited by Oregon's Wide Out Coach Robin Plfugrad. Jeffrey had an estimated 800 yards catching for 12 touchdowns. He also added 7 picks from his defensive back spot. Jeffrey is a big time talent at WR and if Oregon can land him there might be a package deal for this year.

4. Michael Bowman, a 6'4 210 pound 4* Wide Receiver with 4.5 speed comes from Roseville, Ga and plays for Ridgeland High School. Bowman had 27 receptions for 722 yards and 13 touchdowns last fall. The latest article on Rivals.com has Bowman being shocked about the Oregon offer and has no idea what Oregon football is all about but really wants to learn more about them. He is the brother of former Oklahoma State star Adarius Bowman.

5. Jawanza Starling, a 6'2 195 pound 4* safety from Tallahassee, FL. Starling plays for state powerhouse Lincoln High and was a star player as a junior when Starling recorded nearly 100 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, and 2 interceptions.

6. David Sim, a 6'0 208 pound two way star on the field is being recruited as an Athlete at the next level. This past year he had 992 yards rushing with 11 rushing touchdowns. He also threw for 1,500 yards with 19 passing touchdowns. Sims also plays defense at cornerback and had 5 picks in which 2 he took back for a touchdown.

7. Jeremiah Sirles, a 6'8 300 pound Offensive Tackle from Bear Creek High School in Lakewood, CO. Sirles
was named 1st team all-conference and 2nd team all-state by the Rocky Mountain News as a sophomore; he bench presses 315 pounds and squats 405.

When I was looking at this list of new offers its becoming clearer every week the staff at Oregon are branching out from the West coast and trying to build relationships with coaches of high schools back east to build new stomping grounds.

The fact that Oregon has been marketing its program and its Oregon products in what can be called "different" ways is starting to pay off in big dividends for the staff. I haven't seen this many kids from all over the nation this early in the recruiting process show so much knowledge and interest in Oregon ever. Whatever the staff is doing along with the Athletic Department to market the UO as a school and as a whole athletic department is working.
